The Neighbourgoods Market in Cape Town: A Local Hangout
If you wanted to lovingly inspect every stall or shop in a single market day at The Neighbourgoods Market in Woodstock, Cape Town, we simply don't think you'd be able to. There is so much awesomeness that you'll have to come back (more than a few times).
The market, started by two local visionaries who are passionate about bringing back the market culture, is housed in an old warehouse and the courtyard at the Old Biscuit Mill on Albert Road. Every Saturday it's buzzing with market-goers and over a hundred traders of organic and fresh goods and artisanal products. There is so much eye-candy that it really is quite dreamy.
As you follow your feet from vendor to vendor you'll immediately be ooh-ing and aah-ing over hand-buffed leather bags, fresh fashion statements, massive daikons or ridiculously good-looking macarons. Woodstock is quite a trendy spot these days, but don't feel out of place if you're not wearing those John Lennon glasses or a black fedora hat. There is plenty to see, eat and buy for every type of person. We'd love to go on and on listing the wild variety of scrumptious food available (to tuck into right away or to fill up your pantry), the funky fashion accessories and innovative clothing, chic decor and everything in between, but we thought you might like these photos instead.
Oh, and even better, go check out the market yourself!
