Get the best of local fayre at the Jozi Real Food Market!
"Shop outdoors with the sun on your skin & the wind in your hair, and buy local goods made by Jozi artisans." punts the market owner, Ingrid Goncalves! It’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning catching up with old friends, out in the open or under the trees! Kids and dogs are welcome, and there is plenty of play space for everyone. Dads can even watch sport on big screens and enjoy a variety of craft beers in the pub! Good food, good craft and live entertainment. Jozi Market stall holders trade under a collection of colourful umbrellas on the lawns of the Pirates Sports Club. The market isn’t large, which adds to its charm. Expect to be greeted personally by the local artisans - their focus is to help and educate, whilst providing delicious samples to try before buying. Customers will be delighted not only by the food quality, but also the quantity – portions are generous compared to shop offerings. The selection of Jozi Market goods should amply provide for a week’s supply of family food – here are just some of the stalls to choose from: All About Muesli offers a variety of tasty low GI muesli’s as well as a honey baked granola, dark chocolate covered goji berries and a variety of plump, dried fruit and nuts. Heartwood Smokehouse’s wood-smoked bacon rolls are a great way to start the morning’s shop, especially when combined with freshly roasted and brewed coffee from Green Bean Coffee. The Green Bean Roastery is based at the Casalinga Restaurant in Muldersdrift, and offers a wide variety of African coffee roasted-to- order. Other tempting ‘on-site’ nibbles included sweet and savoury pancakes from Marcel’s House of Crepes, samoosas, and hot dogs! There were numerous other products on offer such as artisan breads, organic coffee, organic fruit/veg/eggs, cakes & bakes, food & drink, inspired cuisine, arts & crafts, pet products, jewellery & shoes.
