The not-to-be-missed Bryanston Moonlight Markets this year features a live children's theater this year, focusing on wholesome family entertainment
Our not-to-be-missed Moonlight Markets happen from 20 November to 18 December, each Tuesday evening from 5pm to 9pm. This year the focus of the Bryanston Moonlight Christmas Market is on wholesome family entertainment that allows children to experience the wonder and excitement of the true meaning of Christmas! There is an entrance fee of R20 per adult with children under 12 entering free. Tickets can be bought on arrival at the market or online at Quicket (Event: Moonlight Markets & Children’s Theatre) A Children’s Theatre takes centre stage from 5pm to 7pm each evening with entertainment to captivate and enchant the children. Luigi the Jesting Juggler greets the children on arrival and escorts them into the theatre where Cappy is waiting to enchant and amaze them with his magic tricks. Carols by Candlelight, brings the wonder of Christmas alive for children through song and music and the Children’s Theatre ends with a Bedtime Story Puppet Show transporting them into a wonderland of story-telling. Apart from the main theatre, a collection of children’s side shows offers a variety of entertainment and crafting including face painting, cup cake decorating, Christmas card making, candle making, T-shirt painting, wooden toy painting, stone craft and fairy and mystical creatures craft. To mark this as a fun family memory, you can enter the Happiest Smile Competition in four different categories - Children 5 to 12 years, Teenagers 13 to 18 years, Family group or Couple, with great prizes to be won. The campaign is hosted by the Happy People Entertainment & Development Foundation. The aim is to create a festive buzz, promote social cohesion and celebrate and embrace many diverse cultures through smiles! The competition runs for the duration of the Moonlight Markets with weekly finalists being voted for and announced in the market each Saturday. A percentage of the proceeds will be used to uplift children and community members who come from less privileged backgrounds. Start practising your smiles today! It’s not just for the kids though; busking musicians entertain the grown-ups throughout the market with the melodious sounds of The Dave Fayiga Gospel Choir, Dave Delaney on Irish fiddle, Influx Solo on saxophone, Theo Ekandji on guitar, and the Wu Sisters on cello and violin filling the market with joyful music wherever they roam. Lit up by the sparkle of festive lights, the market is transformed into a magical experience with tempting array of hand crafted Christmas gifts, decorations and festive foods is on offer. Loads of delicious snacks, meals and desserts tempt you to enjoy supper under the stars. So come along and share the festive fun of our Moonlight Markets & Children’s Theatre.
